Metal organic frameworks (MOFs) or coordination polymers (CPs) have gained great importance in
recent years. The real reason for this interest, which is gained by scientists, is not only the interesting topological
structures of such materials, but also the presence of magnetism, gas storage or separation, sensors, optics and
many other applications of these materials [1-5]. When metal organic frameworks are examined within themselves,
it can be said that coordination polymers containing lanthanides (Ln-MOFs) have been recently studied extensively
because their characteristic luminescence properties within these potential applications such as analytical sensor,
OLED technology and fiber amplifiers [6-8]. Among all Ln-MOFs, the Er-MOFs are important luminescent
activators because they exhibit many strong sharp emission peaks in the visible and NIR region.

Nowadays, the preparation and structural elucidation of lanthanide coordination polymers have gained
significant attention for their fascinating architectures, topology and potential application in a wide variety of areas [1,2].
On the one hand, aromatic polycarboxylic acid ligands, or its derivatives are frequent choices for coordination polymers,
because of their versatile coordination sites. Among the aromatic acids, 5-sulfoisopthalic acid (SIP) ligand has one
sulfonate group and two carboxylate groups, which could be useful in the construction of a new Ln(III)-organic
coordination polymers (Fig. 1). On the other hand, Ln(III)-based coordination polymers are stimulating more and more
research because of their potential applications in fluoroimmunoassays, spectroscopic structural probes, laser systems,
organic light-emitting diodes, biological systems, optical amplification, single-molecule magnets and sensors [3–6].
Among all Ln-CPs, the Nd-CPs are important luminescent centres because they exhibit strong emission peaks in the NIR
region. Thus, Nd(III)-containing structures have been regarded as the most popular NIR luminescent materials for
application in telecommunication and laser systems [7].
